Case Study – Wessex Resins

Wessex Resins and Adhesives Ltd has been developing and manufacturing high-quality epoxy products since 1981. During this time they have worked with a large range of organisations that demand specialist formulations, including the Ministry of Defence, London Underground, Bombardier and BAE Systems.

Wessex Resins engaged Heath and Wiltshire to provide daily cleaning services at their office and manufacturing facility in Romsey, near Southampton.

The service from the previous cleaning company had been poor, with unreliable cleaning staff and a lack of Area Management support.

Preparing the quote

A member of the Business Development team initially discussed requirements over the phone with the Purchasing Manager of Wessex Resins. This was to gain a brief understanding about the current service level and get a feel for the various services which may be required moving forward. A site visit was arranged for a convenient time with the customer and where further discussion took place. This included a tour of the site where and an assessment of the areas to be cleaned could be made.

Following the site visit, a detailed written proposal was presented to the customer with copies of H&W insurance and certification.

Implementing the services

The H&W operations team, led by Operations Director Tom Marriott, assigned a dedicated Area Manager (Ivy Tucker) to oversee cleaning services on the contract.

A 2-3 week period of mobilisation was initiated, where all matters around TUPE transfer of cleaning operatives took place between the outgoing cleaning company and H&W, and stocks/supplies of cleaning materials were brought in for use on the contract.

Cleaning schedules were devised and uploaded to the IAuditor platform in preparation for the monthly cleaning audits.

The client was kept informed of progress on mobilisation ahead of contract services start.

Daily Cleaning Services

After a successful mobilisation, H&W now deliver daily cleaning services each evening. Utilising the cleaning schedules/checklists, the cleaning staff maintain the cleanliness ensuring the premises always look their best for clients and visitors.

The cleaning staff are regularly spot checked, and a formal audit of the cleaning standards is conducted by the Area Manager each month.
